With the growing popularity of outdoor rooms and all-weather entertaining, that old patch of lawn just won't cut it.
Pavers set the scene for entertaining areas and should reflect the rest of your home in style and colouring, says Boral Masonry's National Marketing Manager Mark Denton. "Increasingly, the colour trends for pavers are consistent with interior trends, so if you look at what's popular in kitchen benchtops, for example, you'll find it's in demand for pavers as well," he says.

"People are moving away from the more traditional colours such as terracottas and sandstone, and looking for more contemporary shades. Particularly, we're seeing a lot of browns at the moment and also greys."
Patterns are a good way to seamlessly differentiate between different spaces, or introduce a textured feature tile for a stronger look, such as Boral's River Pebble.
And while modular patterns remain popular, consider laying a range of large-format pavers in a random pattern for an up-to-the-minute look. "In Europe, they're mixing large pavers such as 600mm x 400mm with 400mm x 400mm to create a random effect," Mark says.
Details:
The River pebble is created using a combination of standard, corner and straight edge pavers, (all of them 408x408mm) each with a variety of different shapes and sizes of pebbles in each sheet.
